Tesla's Model Y Juniper Launches in China with 719 km Range, 50,000 Orders on Launch Day
Jan 13, 2025, 07:45 PM
Tesla Inc. has launched the updated Model Y, known internally as 'Juniper', in China, with the first deliveries scheduled for March. The new model introduces a refreshed exterior design and enhanced specifications, including a lower drag coefficient of 0.22 Cd, a more spacious trunk by 100 liters, and a range of 719 km. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. The Model Y Juniper received 50,000 orders on its launch day in China, indicating strong initial demand. The vehicle is priced between 263,500 and 303,500 yuan (approximately $39,950 to $41,400 USD) and features a new Glacier Blue color option. The Model Y was the bestselling car in China in 2024, selling 480,309 units, a 5.24% increase from the previous year. The updated model aims to maintain and possibly increase Tesla's market share in China amidst a slight global decline in Model Y sales.
