Legally Blind Ex-Gov. David Paterson and Stepson, Son of Curtis Sliwa, Attacked by Gang on UES
Oct 5, 2024, 01:25 PM
Former New York Governor David Paterson, 70, who is legally blind, and his stepson, 20-year-old Anthony Sliwa—the son of radio personality and former mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa—were attacked by a group of five teenagers on Friday night at approximately 8:35 PM while walking their dog near their Upper East Side home in front of 1871 2nd Avenue. The altercation began after Paterson and his stepson confronted the teens who were climbing a fire escape. Both were injured and taken to NY Cornell Medical Center for treatment. The attackers are wanted for gang assault, and police are searching for the suspects. Curtis Sliwa stated that both "stood their ground" during the attack. Officials noted that the assailants had a previous interaction with the stepson.
