Indiana Native Stephanie White Returns as Fever Head Coach After Firing of Christie Sides
Nov 1, 2024, 04:55 PM
The Indiana Fever have hired Stephanie White as their new head coach. White, a native of West Lebanon, Indiana, returns to the franchise where she previously played and coached. She was Miss Indiana Basketball in 1995 and led Purdue University to a national championship in 1999. White served as an assistant coach for the Fever from 2011 to 2014, including during their 2012 WNBA championship season, and was head coach from 2015 to 2016, guiding the team to the WNBA Finals in 2015. She recently coached the Connecticut Sun for two seasons, leading them to the semifinals each year and earning the 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year honors. In 2022, she was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. White takes over the Fever after the firing of Christie Sides and becomes the second coach of the Caitlin Clark era. She will lead a team featuring promising young talents like Caitlin Clark, the WNBA Rookie of the Year, and Aliyah Boston. White's extensive experience and deep roots in Indiana make her a strong choice to guide the Fever into a new era with championship aspirations.
