VisitBrazil Signs Deal with China's SpaceSail for Satellite Internet in 2026
Nov 20, 2024, 04:55 PM
Brazil has signed an agreement with China's SpaceSail, a competitor to Elon Musk's Starlink, to provide satellite internet services. SpaceSail, headquartered in Shanghai, plans to start operations in Brazil in 2026, aiming to offer connectivity to remote and underserved regions. The company has already launched 40 satellites and intends to deploy an additional 648 within the next 14 months. This move comes as part of a broader collaboration between Brazil and China, with the agreement signed during a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Brazil, accompanied by numerous business leaders from various sectors. SpaceSail's parent company, Spacecom, aims to challenge Starlink with plans to launch over 600 satellites by 2025.
