Saquon Barkley’s 109 First-Quarter Yards, Including 68-Yard TD, Propel Eagles to 21-7 Lead
Dec 22, 2024, 06:49 PM
In a Week 16 matchup, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley delivered an exceptional performance against the Washington Commanders, rushing for 109 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter alone. Barkley opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run and later broke free for a 68-yard touchdown, averaging an impressive 15.6 yards per carry. His 109 rushing yards in the first quarter are the most in a first quarter since 2011 and the most by an Eagles running back since at least 2000. Barkley's dominant display helped the Eagles take a commanding 21-7 lead. With 1,797 rushing yards on the season, he is now 308 yards away from breaking Eric Dickerson's all-time single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards. At halftime, Barkley had amassed 122 yards on 13 carries with two touchdowns, continuing his pursuit of a 2,000-yard season.
