Man Fatally Mauled by His Own XL Bullies in San Diego Park, Dogs Euthanized
Dec 15, 2024, 06:30 PM
In a tragic incident at Mesa Viking Neighborhood Park in Mira Mesa, San Diego, a man was fatally attacked by his three dogs, believed to be 'XL bullies,' on Friday. The attack occurred around noon, and despite the efforts of bystanders who attempted to intervene with shovels and a golf club, the man succumbed to his injuries. A second person who tried to assist was also injured and hospitalized with serious bite wounds. The dogs involved were later euthanized on Saturday, following a decision by their second owner who signed them over to the San Diego Humane Society. The Humane Society, which contracts with the city for animal control, confirmed the owner's death and noted that the dogs had been purchased as 'XL bullies,' a breed known for its size and strength. Security footage captured the owner walking the dogs to the park before the attack. The incident has prompted a thorough investigation by the Humane Society and the San Diego Police Department.
