Putin Approves 2025 Budget with 13.5 Trillion Rubles, $145 Billion for Defense, 24.4% Increase

Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved the federal budget for 2025, which includes a significant increase in defense spending. The budget allocates 13.5 trillion rubles (approximately $145 billion) to national defense, representing about 32.5% of the total budget. This marks a 24.4% increase in military expenditure compared to the previous year. The budget for 2025 also includes planning for the years 2026 and 2027. Notably, spending on defense and law enforcement agencies will surpass allocations for education, healthcare, social policy, and the national economy combined. This decision comes as Russia continues its military operations in Ukraine.
