White House Confirms Ukraine's Use of ATACMS for Deep Strikes, Including Kursk
Nov 25, 2024, 07:25 PM
The White House has officially confirmed that Ukraine is authorized to use U.S.-supplied ATACMS long-range missiles against Russian targets. National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated that the decision reflects Ukraine's right to self-defense and clarified that the missiles can be used on an immediate-need basis. The authorization includes strikes in and around the Kursk region and other areas deep inside Russian territory. This marks the first public acknowledgment by the U.S. government of easing restrictions on Ukraine's use of these weapons, signaling increased support for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict with Russia. President Biden authorized the use of these missiles, with recent strikes reported in Kursk. Washington has also changed its guidance regarding the deployment of ATACMS.
