On January 1, 2025, Eduardo Paes was sworn in for his fourth term as mayor of Rio de Janeiro, marking him as the longest-serving mayor in the city's history. During his inauguration ceremony at the Palácio Pedro Ernesto, Paes announced the launch of a Program to Combat Obesity, which includes plans to distribute a generic version of the drug Ozempic once its patent expires in 2026.
