Supreme Court Rejects RFK Jr.'s Bid to Exit Michigan, Wisconsin Ballots; Gorsuch Dissents
Oct 29, 2024, 09:11 PM
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., after suspending his independent presidential campaign and endorsing former President Donald Trump, petitioned the Supreme Court to remove his name from the ballots in Michigan and Wisconsin, arguing that keeping him on violated his First Amendment rights. On Tuesday, in an 8-1 decision, the Supreme Court rejected his emergency appeals, declining to remove his name from the ballots in these key swing states. Justice Neil Gorsuch was the lone dissenter in the Michigan case, agreeing with the lower court's critique of the decision. Kennedy has pleaded with voters, 'DO NOT VOTE FOR ME,' aiming to avoid drawing votes away from Trump ahead of the November 5 election. As a result, Kennedy's name will remain on the ballots in both states.
