VisitUS Intelligence Warns of Russian Fake Voter Fraud Videos in Swing States; Iran, China Also Involved
Nov 5, 2024, 06:50 AM
US intelligence agencies, including the FBI, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), have issued warnings that foreign adversaries, particularly Russia, are intensifying efforts to interfere with the upcoming US Presidential election. Russia is deemed the 'most active threat,' but Iran and China are also involved in misinformation campaigns. Russian influence actors are manufacturing videos and creating fake articles to undermine the legitimacy of the election, instill fear in voters regarding the election process, and suggest Americans are using violence against each other. These disinformation campaigns include fake videos of immigrant voter fraud in swing states such as Georgia, featuring a Haitian immigrant allegedly voting multiple times, and fabricated FBI alerts about terror threats at polling stations urging people to 'vote remotely.' Officials warn that these efforts are intended to undermine public confidence in the integrity of the election and stoke divisions among Americans both before and after Election Day, and are expected to intensify during the election certification period.
