The Minnesota Golden Gophers secured a 24-10 victory over Virginia Tech in the Duke's Mayo Bowl, marking their eighth win of the 2024 season and earning head coach PJ Fleck his sixth bowl game win at Minnesota. The Gophers have now won eight consecutive bowl games and have achieved at least eight wins in four of the last five full seasons. In keeping with the Mayo Bowl tradition, Fleck received a 'mayo bath' following the game, exclaiming "Make it a double!" before tossing away his cap to take the mayo dump with no protection. The mayonnaise was poured by rapper Flavor Flav, who was revealed to be the game's mascot, Tubby.
