Alaska's Panos Anastasiou Arrested for Over 400 Threats Against Six Supreme Court Justices
Sep 19, 2024, 06:18 PM
An Alaska man, Panos Anastasiou, has been arrested and federally charged for making over 400 violent threats against six Supreme Court justices and their family members. The threats, which included racist and homophobic rhetoric, involved assassination by torture, hanging, and firearms. The Department of Justice announced the indictment, noting that Anastasiou faces multiple charges and could face up to 10 years in jail if convicted. The indictment did not specify which justices were targeted, but it is noted that the Supreme Court currently has a 6-3 conservative majority. Anastasiou, 76, has also been identified as a frequent donor to Democratic causes via ActBlue. He was arrested on Wednesday and also threatened two family members.
