TikTok Cracks Down on Russian, Chinese State-Backed Misinformation Ahead of Elections
May 23, 2024, 01:04 PM
TikTok has launched a new crackdown on state-backed misinformation accounts ahead of European and US elections. The social media giant is targeting covert influence operations and state-affiliated media accounts, including those from Russia and China. From January to April 2024, TikTok disrupted 15 influence operations as part of its efforts to counter foreign influence during a key election year. The company is implementing new measures to limit the spread of videos from these accounts to ensure the integrity of the electoral process, according to the New York Times.
