X to Charge New Users Annual Fee to Combat Bots, Improve Experience
Apr 16, 2024, 07:30 AM
X, formerly known as Twitter, is planning to implement a new policy where new users will be required to pay a small annual fee to post, like, reply, or bookmark on the platform. This move, already active in New Zealand and the Philippines, is part of an effort to combat spam and improve user experience by reducing the presence of bots. The fee is expected to be as low as $1 per year. Users will still be able to follow accounts and browse the platform for free.
