North Korea Sends 20,000 Containers of Arms to Russia, 60% of Shells in Ukraine War
Dec 23, 2024, 10:18 AM
North Korea has intensified its arms shipments to Russia, supplying both older ammunition and advanced weapons such as ballistic missiles and rocket launchers, according to the Wall Street Journal. This escalation in military cooperation comes as Pyongyang ramps up its weapons production to full capacity with Russian technical assistance. In return, North Korea is receiving much-needed cash and oil from Russia. Satellite imagery analyzed by the Wall Street Journal indicates that North Korea is preparing to send more arms to Russia, on top of the approximately 20,000 containers already shipped. The arms supplied include 122mm and 152mm artillery shells, Hwasong-11 missiles, 170mm Koksan howitzers, and 240mm multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). Andrii Kovalenko, head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation, stated that 60% of the artillery and mortar shells used by Russia in Ukraine now come from North Korea.
