Russia Violates UN Sanctions, Supplies North Korea Over 1M Barrels of Oil Since March
Nov 22, 2024, 07:34 AM
Russia has supplied North Korea with more than a million barrels of oil since March 2024, in violation of U.N. sanctions, according to an analysis of satellite imagery by the UK-based Open Source Centre and reported by the BBC. The oil shipments, which exceed U.N. limits, are believed to be in exchange for weapons and troops from Pyongyang to aid Russia's war efforts in Ukraine, as stated by David Lammy. This trade was documented through 43 tanker trips with tracking systems turned off, highlighting the covert nature of these transactions.
