NALC and USPS Reach Historic Tentative Agreement for 200,000 Mail Carriers with Pay Raises and Air-Conditioned Trucks
Oct 19, 2024, 05:53 PM
The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has reached a tentative agreement with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), marking a historic and hard-fought victory for the federation's largest bargaining unit. The deal, which still requires ratification by union members, includes pay raises, backdated to May 2023, and promises to provide air-conditioned trucks for the 200,000 letter carriers. The agreement, announced on Friday, will run through November 2026. Both the union and the Postal Service have welcomed the deal, with Brian Renfroe of NALC noting that while neither side got everything they wanted, the agreement meets their goals and rewards members. Doug Tulino, deputy postmaster general and chief human resources officer, described it as a fair and responsible agreement that supports USPS’s 10-year ‘Delivering for America’ mission to modernize operations and adapt to changing customer needs.
