IATSE Reaches Tentative Three-Year Agreement with AMPTP
Jun 27, 2024, 12:19 AM
The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) has reached a tentative new Basic Agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). The deal, which still needs to be ratified by union members, covers a new three-year contract for 13 West Coast Locals with Hollywood’s top studios and streamers. Reached on Tuesday night, this agreement is seen as a significant step forward in addressing fair wages, benefits, and working conditions. The deal includes provisions that aim to protect jobs from the impact of artificial intelligence (AI). Industry experts are discussing whether these AI protections will be sufficient to calm fears of job loss in the sector.
