VisitMeta to Introduce AI-Generated User Accounts and Movie Gen Tool on Facebook and Instagram
Jan 3, 2025, 01:33 AM
Meta Platforms Inc. is set to introduce AI-generated user accounts on its social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, aiming to enhance user engagement. These AI accounts will mimic human users by generating and sharing content, as well as interacting with other users. The initiative is part of Meta's broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into its services, following the launch of AI character creation tools in the US in July of the previous year through AI Studio. Connor Hayes, Meta's vice president of product for generative AI, stated that these AI accounts will have bios and profile pictures, similar to human accounts, and will contribute to making the platforms more entertaining and engaging. Additionally, Meta is developing a new tool called Movie Gen, which will allow creators to use generative AI to change their clothing or the context of their videos. Meta's move is driven by the need to retain users and keep pace with competitors like TikTok and Snapchat.
