Quarterback Baker Mayfield was 3-of-5 targeting Evans in the first half, and Evans required 54 more yards in the second half. As the game progressed, he got closer to the milestone, needing just 17 more yards with 2:32 remaining and the Buccaneers leading 20-19. Despite efforts in the final minutes, Evans finished the game five yards short, ending with 995 receiving yards for the season and missing out on the record and the incentive.
