Lufthansa to Raise Ticket Prices by Up to €72 Next Year to Cover Sustainable Fuel Costs
Jun 25, 2024, 01:22 PM
Lufthansa, Europe’s biggest airline group, announced it will increase ticket prices on all flights departing from EU countries, Britain, Norway, and Switzerland by between 1 euro and 72 euros ($1.07-$77.24) starting next year. The surcharge is intended to cover the rising costs of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and other regulatory environmental requirements aimed at reducing aircraft emissions. The German company expects 'billions in the future' in additional costs due to these environmental measures. Deutsche Lufthansa AG will introduce this surcharge to cover the costs of alternative green fuels.
