Lufthansa Fined Record $4 Million by U.S. for Discriminating Against Jewish Passengers on 2022 Flight
Oct 15, 2024, 05:56 PM
The U.S. Department of Transportation has fined German airline Lufthansa a record $4 million for allegedly discriminating against Jewish passengers during a 2022 flight. The fine, the largest ever issued by the Department for a civil rights violation, comes after Lufthansa denied boarding to more than 120 Jewish passengers, many of whom were wearing traditional Orthodox Jewish clothing. The incident was reportedly part of the airline’s effort to manage the alleged misbehavior of some passengers. Lufthansa has agreed to pay the penalty.
