Jan 11, 2025, 11:58 PM
Mexico has dispatched 72 firefighters and emergency personnel to Los Angeles to assist in combating the wildfires that have devastated the region, claiming at least 16 lives and destroying over 12,000 structures. The team, which includes members from Mexico's National Forestry Commission, the Ministry of Defense, and other agencies, arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday. California Governor Gavin Newsom expressed gratitude to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum for the support, emphasizing the solidarity between the two nations during this crisis. The Mexican contingent will join over 14,000 personnel already fighting the fires, which have prompted the evacuation of more than 180,000 people.
