Conservatives Lose All 12 Seats in Historic Welsh Wipeout
Jul 5, 2024, 05:25 AM
The Conservative party has suffered a historic defeat in Wales, losing all 12 seats it previously held. This marks the first complete wipeout for the Tories in Wales since 2001. Labour emerged as the dominant party, securing 27 out of the 32 Welsh constituencies. Plaid Cymru won four seats, and the Liberal Democrats gained one seat. Notable losses for the Conservatives include former Welsh Secretary Alun Cairns and Welsh Secretary David TC Davies. In 2019, the Conservatives had 11 seats.
