Labour Achieves Largest Lead Since Truss, Extends Lead Over Conservatives to 20 Points
Jun 3, 2024, 02:40 PM
A new poll by Opinium Research indicates that the Labour Party has significantly widened its lead over the Conservatives, now standing at a 20-point advantage. The poll, conducted between May 29 and 31, shows Labour at 45% (+4) and the Conservatives at 25% (-2). This marks the largest lead for Labour with Opinium since Liz Truss was Prime Minister. Additionally, Keir Starmer's lead over Rishi Sunak on the 'best Prime Minister' question has grown to 36% versus 20%. Other parties' standings include the Liberal Democrats at 8% (-2), Reform UK at 11% (+1), the Green Party at 6% (-1), and the SNP at 3% (+1). The results suggest a reversion to the mean after last week's narrower margin and align with other polling data showing a consistent lead for Labour. The increase is also noted to be outside the margin of error.
