FBI Confirms Iranian Hack of Trump Campaign, Data Sent to Biden-Harris; Grand Jury Investigation Sought
Sep 20, 2024, 05:40 AM
The FBI has confirmed that Iranian hackers breached the Trump campaign and attempted to send stolen information to the Biden-Harris campaign. According to a joint statement from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), FBI, and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the hackers aimed to influence the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election. President Trump has accused Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign of spying on him and using the stolen data, a claim that the Harris campaign denies. The White House stated that President Biden only learned about the hack recently and did not use any of the stolen materials. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan has launched an inquiry into the incident, demanding an unclassified briefing from the FBI. The incident has raised concerns about foreign interference in U.S. elections, with Iran, Russia, and China being identified as significant threats. Trump has also called for a grand jury to investigate the matter. The FBI has until September 21 to provide more details. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to comment on the reports.
