Twins' José Miranda Ties MLB Record with 12 Consecutive Hits in At-Bats
Jul 6, 2024, 06:54 PM
José Miranda of the Minnesota Twins has tied the Major League Baseball (MLB) record for consecutive at-bats with a hit, achieving 12 straight hits. This feat has only been accomplished three other times in MLB history, with the last occurrence in 1952 by Walt Dropo. Miranda's streak also sets a new Twins franchise record, surpassing the previous record of 9 consecutive hits held by Tony Oliva, Mickey Hatcher, and Todd Walker. Additionally, Miranda has reached base safely in 13 consecutive plate appearances, the longest such streak since Kevin Youkilis in 2009. His 11th consecutive at-bat included an RBI single, and he was hit by a pitch in one of his plate appearances. His performance has significantly boosted his batting average from .294 to .329. This streak is the longest in MLB since Juan Soto's in 2021.
