Bob's Burgers' Jimmy Pesto Voice Actor Jay Johnston Sentenced to One Year and One Day for Jan. 6 Riot
Oct 28, 2024, 08:38 PM
Jay Johnston, an actor known for voicing Jimmy Pesto Sr. on 'Bob's Burgers' and for roles in 'Arrested Development', 'Anchorman', and 'Mr. Show', was sentenced on October 28, 2024, to one year and one day in federal prison for his involvement in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Johnston pleaded guilty in July 2024 to charges of civil disorder, admitting that he participated in pushing against police officers guarding a tunnel entrance to the Capitol and engaging in a 'heave-ho' effort with other rioters. He also admitted to cracking jokes and recording the violence on his cellphone during the riot. Johnston expressed regret for making it more difficult for the police to do their job and stated he never anticipated that a riot would erupt that day. His defense argued that he has been effectively blacklisted by the film and television industry since his arrest. In addition to the prison sentence, Johnston was ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution.
