'Bob's Burgers' Actor Jay Johnston Sentenced to One Year and a Day for Capitol Riot Role
Oct 28, 2024, 07:50 PM
Jay Johnston, a 54-year-old actor known for his roles in 'Bob's Burgers,' 'Arrested Development,' 'Mr. Show,' and 'Anchorman,' was sentenced on Monday to one year and one day in federal prison for his role in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Johnston pleaded guilty to a felony charge of civil disorder, admitting that he pushed against police officers during the riot, which he acknowledged made it 'more difficult for the police to do their job.' He expressed regret for his actions, stating he never would have guessed that a riot would erupt that day. His defense team argued that he has been 'effectively blacklisted by the film and television industry' following his arrest. In addition to the prison sentence, Johnston was ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution.
