VisitJapan Expands Sanctions on Russia, Bans 335 Items Effective January 23
Jan 10, 2025, 03:41 AM
Japan has announced additional sanctions against Russia in response to its ongoing invasion of Ukraine. The measures, approved by Japan's Cabinet, include freezing the assets of 11 individuals, 51 entities, and three Russian banks, including the director general of Alrosa, Pavel Marinychev. The sanctions also expand export bans to 335 new items, such as engines and parts for specialized vehicles, audio equipment, and tools, effective January 23. These measures target entities and individuals involved in Russia-North Korea military cooperation and aim to prevent circumvention of restrictions through third countries. Japan's government stated that these actions are part of international efforts to address the Ukraine crisis and maintain global peace.
