Jannik Sinner Secures 61st Win, Advances to Fourth Round at Rolex Shanghai Masters
Oct 6, 2024, 08:06 AM
Jannik Sinner, the World No. 1 tennis player, continues his impressive 2024 season by advancing to the fourth round of the Rolex Shanghai Masters. Sinner defeated Japan's Taro Daniel 6-1, 6-4 to secure his 60th win of the year and his 250th career ATP match win, making him the first man born in the 2000s to achieve this milestone. He then overcame a tough challenge from Tomás Martín Etcheverry, winning 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 in a match that lasted 2h40 to reach the round of 16. Sinner has now won 61 matches in 2024 and has a record of 81-7 since the US Open 2023. Additionally, he is the first player to win 60 or more matches in back-to-back seasons since Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray in 2015 and 2016. Sinner remains unbeaten against players outside the top 20 since Cincinnati 2023, with a 53-0 record. He described the match against Etcheverry as tough both physically and mentally.
