Venezuela Limits Diplomats from Italy, France, Netherlands to Three, Demands 48-Hour Compliance

Venezuela has imposed restrictions on diplomats from Italy, France, and the Netherlands, limiting the number of accredited diplomats to three per embassy and requiring written authorization for travel beyond 40 kilometers from Plaza Bolivar in Caracas. These measures were announced in response to what Venezuela's Foreign Ministry described as 'hostile behavior' from these countries, characterized by their support for extremist groups and interference in Venezuela's internal affairs. The countries have been given 48 hours to comply with these restrictions. The measures come amidst heightened tensions following the recent inauguration of President Nicolas Maduro for a third term, which has been criticized by these European nations. Italy and the Netherlands have summoned Venezuela's chargé d'affaires to protest these restrictions and the lack of information regarding the detention of Italian NGO worker Alberto Trentini, who has been held in Venezuela for two months.
