Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced the arrest of seven foreign nationals, including two U.S. citizens described as 'very high level', two Colombians, and three Ukrainians, on charges of plotting terrorist acts against the country's peace. The arrests were made just days before Maduro's scheduled inauguration for a third term on January 10, 2025. Maduro stated that the group intended to disrupt his inauguration. Additionally, Venezuelan authorities reported the detention of 125 foreign nationals from 25 different countries, accused of similar destabilizing activities. The government has intensified security measures across the nation in response to these incidents.
