Boston Mayor Wu Defies Trump's Mass Deportations; Homan Warns 'Don't Cross That Line'
Nov 19, 2024, 03:00 PM
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced that the city will not cooperate with President-elect Donald Trump's planned mass deportations, pledging to protect immigrants in 'every possible way.' Wu emphasized that Boston is a sanctuary city and suggested there may be room to 'reverse or override some parts' of federal immigration law. She stated that deportations are dangerous and cause widespread fear, threatening the safety of everyone. Wu affirmed, 'We are not cooperating.' In response, Tom Homan, Trump's designated border czar, warned mayors and governors against harboring illegal aliens, citing Title 8, U.S. Code § 1324, which makes it a felony to conceal or harbor undocumented individuals from federal law enforcement. Homan stated, 'Don't cross that line,' and indicated that officials who interfere with federal immigration enforcement could face legal consequences.
