Epic Games Launches Store for iOS in EU, Fortnite, Fall Guys, Rocket League Return
Aug 16, 2024, 11:09 AM
Epic Games has launched its own app store for iOS in the European Union, marking a significant development in the ongoing competition with Apple's App Store. This move allows iPhone users in the EU to access Fortnite, Fall Guys mobile, Rocket League, and other games through the Epic Games Store, which is also available globally on Android devices. The launch comes after a four-year absence of Fortnite from iOS, following a legal battle with Apple. Epic Games plans to start onboarding third-party developers' games from December. Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, stated that the company likely lost over a billion dollars in revenue due to Fortnite's removal from the iOS App Store. The return of Fortnite and the launch of the Epic Games Store are facilitated by the EU's Digital Markets Act, which aims to enhance competition in digital markets.
