Lionel Messi's Edificio Rostower Socimi Debuts in Spain at 57.4 Euros Per Share, Valued at $232 Million
Dec 31, 2024, 02:10 PM
Lionel Messi, the Argentine soccer star and Inter Miami player, formerly of FC Barcelona, has launched a real estate investment trust (REIT) named Edificio Rostower Socimi, which debuted on the Spanish market at 57.4 euros per share. The REIT, which Messi chairs, has a market capitalization of 223 million euros ($232.12 million). Edificio Rostower owns seven hotels in Spain and Andorra, three office spaces, and five apartments in Spain, along with properties in London and Paris. The company, founded in 2013, reported a loss of 1.7 million euros in 2023. Messi's family investment vehicle, Limecu Espana 2010, is the sole shareholder of Edificio Rostower, but the trust plans to open up to new investors. Messi's wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, serves as vice-president of the board, with other members including Alfonso Nebot, who runs Messi's family office, and Ramon Adell, a board member of Spanish energy company Naturgy. Most of the company's investments are in the Catalonia region of Spain. The Portfolio Stock Exchange, where the REIT is listed, is a small European alternative market launched in 2023 and supervised by the Bank of Spain.
