Devendra Fadnavis has been unanimously elected as the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislative party in Maharashtra, paving the way for him to become the state's Chief Minister for a historic third term. His name was proposed during a BJP legislative meeting in Mumbai, with no other names put forward. Fadnavis is set to take the oath of office on December 5 at Mumbai's Azad Maidan. Celebrations erupted outside his residence in Nagpur following the announcement.
