Derrick Rose, the former NBA MVP and youngest player to win the award, has announced his retirement from basketball after a 16-year career. Rose, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, played for six teams including the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, and Memphis Grizzlies. He was a three-time All-Star and the 2009 Rookie of the Year. Rose expressed his gratitude to basketball, describing it as his 'first love' and thanked the fans by taking out full-page ads in local newspapers of the cities he played in.
