Derrick Rose, 35, Announces Retirement After 16 NBA Seasons
Sep 26, 2024, 11:51 AM
Derrick Rose, the youngest MVP in NBA history and a former No. 1 pick, has announced his retirement from basketball after 16 seasons. Rose, who played for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, and Memphis Grizzlies, was a three-time All-Star and the 2009 Rookie of the Year. At 35 years old, Rose expressed gratitude for his career and stated that he is looking forward to the next chapter of his life, focusing on his family and personal growth. Rose took out full-page ads in local newspapers of the cities he played in to thank the fanbases. The 2011 MVP was released from the final year of his contract with the Grizzlies earlier this week.
