On 31st Birthday, Derrick Henry Sets Ravens' TD Record, Reaches 1,921 Yards, Earns $500K Bonus
Jan 5, 2025, 12:28 AM
Derrick Henry celebrated his 31st birthday by leading the Baltimore Ravens to a victory over the Cleveland Browns, rushing for 138 yards on 20 carries and scoring two touchdowns. With his 15th and 16th rushing touchdowns of the season, Henry broke Jamal Lewis's record for the most single-season rushing touchdowns in Ravens history and earned a $500,000 contract bonus for reaching 15 total touchdowns. Henry finished the season with 1,921 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns, becoming the first player in NFL history with multiple seasons of at least 1,800 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns. He is just the second running back aged 30 or older to rush for over 1,800 yards in a season. It was his 27th career game with two or more rushing touchdowns, tying him with Jim Brown for fourth-most in NFL history. This marks the fourth time Henry has had 15 or more rushing touchdowns in a season, placing him behind only Barry Sanders, who had five such seasons.
