Jets Acquire Davante Adams from Raiders, Reuniting Star Receiver with Aaron Rodgers
Oct 15, 2024, 02:14 PM
Davante Adams, the star wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, has been traded to the New York Jets, pending a physical examination due to a recent hamstring injury. The trade reunites Adams with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, with whom he previously formed one of the NFL's most prolific duos in Green Bay, combining for 622 receptions, 7,590 receiving yards, and 69 touchdowns. The Jets will send a conditional 2025 third-round pick to the Raiders, which can become a second-round pick based on performance. New York will assume the entirety of Adams' remaining contract, including $11.67 million for the remainder of the 2024 season and non-guaranteed totals of $36.25 million in each of the next two years. The Raiders will incur dead cap charges of $13.67 million in 2024 and $15.7 million in 2025. This move comes as the Jets, currently at a 2-4 record after a loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, aim to revitalize their season and bolster an offense that also features wide receivers Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard, running back Breece Hall, and tight ends Tyler Conklin and Jeremy Ruckert.
