Trump Nominates J.D. Vance Advisor Daniel Driscoll as Secretary of the Army
Dec 4, 2024, 04:17 PM
President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Daniel P. Driscoll, a native of Western North Carolina and Army veteran, to serve as Secretary of the Army. Driscoll, 38, is a former soldier who served as a Cavalry Scout Platoon Leader with the 10th Mountain Division after completing U.S. Army Ranger School. An Iraq War veteran, he later graduated from Yale Law School, where he was a classmate and close friend of Senator J.D. Vance. Driscoll has worked as an investor and political advisor, most recently serving as a senior advisor to Vance. In 2020, he ran in the crowded Republican primary for North Carolina's 11th Congressional District. His nomination expands Vance's influence at the Pentagon and has been speculated for weeks. Trump described Driscoll as a "disruptor and change agent" in his announcement.
