Barcelona to Appeal to CSD After La Liga and RFEF Reject Dani Olmo and Pau Victor's Registration
Jan 4, 2025, 09:21 AM
Barcelona's efforts to re-register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the second half of the season have been officially rejected by La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The decision was announced in a joint statement following a meeting of the LaLiga-RFEF Coordination Agreement Monitoring Commission. The rejection is based on the interpretation of Articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the RFEF General Regulations, which prohibit a player whose license has been canceled from obtaining a new license with the same team in the same season. Barcelona, led by president Joan Laporta, has expressed its disagreement with the decision and plans to appeal to the Spanish Sports Council (CSD) for a provisional measure. If unsuccessful, the club may resort to ordinary courts to resolve the issue. This development leaves Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, part of Hansi Flick's squad, unable to play for Barcelona for the remainder of the season unless the appeal is successful. The club had received 28 million euros from the sale of VIP seats at the new Camp Nou, which had temporarily brought them into compliance with La Liga's financial fair play rules.
