Dec 21, 2024, 11:38 AM
FC Barcelona's members have ratified a new long-term sponsorship agreement with Nike, extending their partnership until 2038. The agreement, which spans 14 years, was approved during an extraordinary general assembly with 419 votes in favor, 27 against, and 22 abstentions. President Joan Laporta described the deal as the largest in the history of football for sports equipment sponsorship, emphasizing its importance for the club's economic recovery and compliance with LaLiga's financial fair play regulations. The contract is expected to bring in over €100 million annually, before bonuses, and includes a signing bonus, increased annual sponsorship fees, and the elimination of penalties for poor sports performance. Treasurer Ferran Olivé highlighted that the deal also allows Barcelona to expand its licensing and merchandising business through its subsidiary, BLM.
