China has admitted that a Hong Kong-flagged ship, owned by the Chinese firm NewNew Shipping Line, was responsible for damaging the critical Balticconnector gas pipeline between Estonia and Finland last October. The incident, involving the vessel NewNew Polar Bear, is currently under joint criminal investigation by Finland and Estonia. Beijing has communicated its findings to both countries, asserting that the damage was accidental.
