Chile's President Boric Denies Sexual Harassment Allegations Including Diffusion of Intimate Images

Chilean President Gabriel Boric is facing a sexual harassment accusation stemming from an alleged incident that occurred over a decade ago. The complaint was filed on September 6, 2024, and the Chilean Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that an investigation is underway, with Boric currently considered an "imputado" in the case. Boric's lawyer, Jonatan Valenzuela Saldías, has categorically denied the allegations, stating that the President was actually a victim of "systematic harassment" by the accuser between 2013 and 2014. The defense has submitted evidence to the Prosecutor's Office, including 25 emails and explicit images allegedly sent unsolicited by the accuser to Boric. The accusation includes the alleged diffusion of intimate images. Government spokesperson Camila Vallejo has reiterated that the accusation is unfounded and that the administration has "nothing to hide."
