Chinese Football Association Bans 43 for Life Over Gambling and Match-Fixing
Sep 10, 2024, 06:50 AM
The Chinese Football Association (CFA) has imposed lifetime bans on 43 individuals involved in football-related activities due to gambling and match-fixing. This decision follows a two-year investigation into corruption within the sport. Among those banned are former Chinese international players Jin Jingdao, Guo Tianyu, and Gu Chao, as well as South Korean player Son Junho. Additionally, 17 other individuals received five-year bans. The sanctions were jointly issued by China's sport and public security authorities as part of a broader effort to combat corruption in Chinese football. Xinhua reported that the banned individuals include players from Shandong Taishan and were found guilty of seeking unjust benefits.
