Carlos Alcaraz Defeats New No. 1 Sinner 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 to Reach French Open Final
Jun 7, 2024, 04:50 PM
Carlos Alcaraz has secured his place in the French Open final after a thrilling five-set victory over new No. 1 Jannik Sinner. The match, which lasted just over four hours, saw Alcaraz come from behind to win 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. This achievement makes Alcaraz, at 21 years old, the youngest man in the Open Era to reach Grand Slam finals on all three surfaces: hard, grass, and clay. Alcaraz's victory marks his third Grand Slam final, having previously won the US Open in 2022 and Wimbledon in 2023. He now has a 10-1 record in five-setters at majors and has been No. 1 for 36 weeks between 2022 and 2023. He is now set to face either Casper Ruud or Alexander Zverev in the final.
