Canada Adds $15 Million to Lebanon Aid, Matches Donations Amid Israel-Hezbollah Conflict
Oct 9, 2024, 06:58 PM
Canada has announced an additional $15 million in humanitarian aid for Lebanon amid an escalating conflict involving Israel and Hezbollah. This funding adds to Canada's existing aid package for the country. The Canadian government will also match up to $6 million in donations from Canadians. International Development Minister Ahmed Hussen stated that the new funds will help Canadian and international aid organizations provide food, water, emergency healthcare, and other assistance to Lebanese civilians, though the exact allocations are yet to be determined. The conflict has displaced over one million people in Lebanon, and Canada is working with humanitarian partners to deliver life-saving aid to those affected.
